The fifth Karachi Water and Sewerage Corporation (KWSC) Board meeting was held on Tuesday at the Chairman’s Secretariat, presided over by Mayor and KWSC Chairman Barrister MurtazaWahab.KWSC Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Engineer Syed Salahuddin Ahmed, DrSarosh H. Lodhi, Abdul KabirQazi, and other members attended the meeting.
The board discussed a nine.point agenda, Key approvals and decisions made during the meeting include the approval of the minutes from the fourth board meeting, a review of progress on previous board decisions, and the approval of KWSC’s annual budget of Rs 46.259 billion for the fiscal year 2024-2025, approval of proposed water and sewerage charges for retail and bulk consumers, the board also approved amendments to the Water Corporation Regulations 2024, including the extraction, use, and management of underground water, formation of a committee to address the termination of High Point Forebay Phase One under the 65 million gallon water per day (MGD) Additional Water Supply Project, they gave approval of a fuel service agreement with Pakistan State Oil for three years and a lease agreement for a specific unit near the K-IV project, creation of new posts, appointment of consultants, and changes to various designations in accordance with the Water Corporation Act 2023, approval of promotions from Grade 19 to Grade 20 for several officials, including Syed Iftikhar Ali Shah, Intekhab Ahmed Rajput, Muhammad AkramBaloch, Jameel Ansari, and SaifuddinAwan.
During the meeting, board members expressed their commitment to diligently overseeing the corporation’s administration and ensuring effective services for the people of Karachi, which are in line with the corporation’s functions and powers outlined in the Act, they also emphasized the need to increase KWSC’s revenue, improve water availability, and enhance the sewage system, the board members appreciated the efforts of the new KWSC administration in these areas.Additionally, the President of the Engineers and Officers Association KWSC Nadeem Ahmed Karmani, General Secretary Muhammad Saqib Abdul Jabbar Sheikh and other members thanked Mayor Karachi MurtazaWahab, KWSC CEO Engineer Syed Salahuddin Ahmed, and KWSC Chief Operating Officer Engineer Asadullah Khan for approving the promotions under DPC One.
