Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz’s (PML-N) nominee for Chief Minister Punjab slot Maryam Nawaz would chair the parliamentary party’s meeting on Wednesday, the sources privy to the development revealed.

The sources said that the PML-N Punjab parliamentary party’s meeting would be held at Jati Umra, Lahore.

All the MPAs-elect of the party, they said, would ensure their presence in the meeting.

“The matters related to the government formation in Punjab will be discussed,” said the sources, adding that nomination for the offices of the speaker and deputy speaker would also be deliberated upon during the meeting.

The PML-N Punjab Parliamentary meeting would also deliberate the strategy for the upcoming session of the provincial assembly.

Punjab Assembly session, according to the sources, is likely to be summoned on February 22 [tomorrow].

However, the controversy involving the number game and allocation of the reserved seats may rise once again ahead of government formation.

The sources said that there could be controversy over the reserved seats.

The PTI-backed independent candidates joined Sunni Ittehad Council.

“The Punjab Assembly session is being called for February 22 as per my information,” said Punjab Assembly Speaker Sabtain Khan. However, he said he could not confirm whether the house was still complete or incomplete.

The speaker said, “The first session of the Punjab Assembly cannot be summoned without allocation of the reserve seats,”.
