Unidentified men tortured and killed a man in the Sayad district of Sar-e-Pol province in northern Afghanistan, local Taliban officials said. Authorities say that on Saturday, the 5th of November, in the Angashka village of Sayad district, a man by the name of Mohammad Naeem was murdered by unidentified people.

According to Din Mohammad Nazari, the spokesman for the Taliban administration chief of police in Sar-e-pol province, the victim was first tortured before being strangled with a cloth.

The spokesperson of the Taliban police chief for the province said that the motive of the murder is yet to be determined by the investigating teams. However, the Taliban official merely mentioned that an investigation was ongoing and made no mention of detaining or arresting anyone in relation to the torture and murder.

In recent months, the reports of unsolved, mysterious murders have increased. In the most recent incident, a girl was killed on November 4 in the Miramor district of Daikundi province in central Afghanistan by unknown people.

The 12-year-old girl’s body was reportedly discovered close to her place of residence with her scarf tied around her neck.

The Taliban have repeatedly asserted that the group has maintained security in Afghanistan, but each of these mysterious deaths around the country disproves its assertions.—Khaama News Agency
