Malir police on Saturday claimed to have arrested an alleged extortionist demanding extortion from a carpet dealer through electronic mail.
According to a statement issued by SSP Malir Irfan Bahadur, the police arrested an accused identified as Gul Zaman alias Ajooba, with the help of a technical support system from Memon Goth, Malir.
The SSP said that the accused sent an electronic mail to a carpet trader and demanded extortion from him.
The police registered a case No. 194/2021 on the complaint of the affected trader and took immediate action, the SSP Malir said.
Accused Gul Zaman alias Ajooba Khan had also threatened the trader of serious consequences for not paying extortion, SSP said. Further criminal record of the arrested accused is being checked by the police.
