LDA demolishes extension of UBL, seals 26 businesses in Lahore

LAHORE—The Lahore Development Authority (LDA) removed illegal signboards and partially demolished several buildings for violation of bylaws during operations in different areas of Lahore on Friday.

LDA teams demolished extension of United Bank Limited and several illegal shops during operations on Johar Town’s Khayaban-e-Firdousi and in Board of Revenue Society. Signboards were also removed from several illegal commercial buildings.

LDA’s Town Planning Wing sealed 26 buildings in Gulberg and Garden Town for illegal commercial use and nonpayment of commercialisation fees.
The sealed premises include private school, grocery stores, food outlets, shops, offices and other businesses.

LDA Chief Town Planner I Assad-uz-Zaman and Chief Town Planner II Azhar Ali supervised the operations, which were carried out by the enforcement teams with the help of the Police and heavy machinery.

According to the LDA officials, several notices were served to the owners of these buildings before carrying out the operations.

LDA Director General Tahir Farooq has directed continuing indiscriminate operations against encroachments, violation of building/parking bylaws, illegal commercial buildings and commercialisation fee defaulters across Lahore.
