ISLAMABAD – Road travel became more expensive in Pakistan as the National Highways Authority jacked up toll taxes for vehicles up to Rs600 on national highways and multiple motorways.

---|---|---|
Cars | Rs1100 | Rs1210 |

Coaster | Rs2240 | Rs2840 |

Under the latest update, toll charges for M2 Lahore-Islamabad Motorway have been raised, with the fee for a standard vehicle traveling between Lahore and Islamabad increasing from Rs1100 to Rs1210.
Commercial vehicles have faced even larger increases, with some tolls rising by up to Rs600. For example, the new toll for a van is set at Rs2030, while the toll for a coaster has jumped from Rs2240 to Rs2840.
Heavy vehicle tolls have also been updated: buses will now pay Rs4060, trucks Rs5280, and trailers Rs6780.
A Motorway Authority spokesperson stated that these revised toll rates apply to all interchanges on the M2 Motorway. This increase follows an annual 10 percent adjustment as per the contract terms.
Travelers have reacted negatively to the toll hike, noting that the already high inflation and cost of living have made travel expenses even more burdensome.
