Administrator Karachi Laiq Ahmed has said that 0.1 saplings saplings will be planted across the city during the tree plantation campaign starting from Tuesday, making the city green and beautiful.
He said the citizens of Karachi have fully welcomed it. In the coming days, Karachi’s roads, highways, parks and green belts will look green and fresh, he said while reviewing the arrangements for the inauguration ceremony of the tree plantation campaign.
The administrator said that Bagh-e- Jinnah (Polo Ground) at the commencement of the campaign, the guest of honour, Local Government Minister Syed Nasir Hussain Shah and other eminent personalities will plant more than 500 different types of plants which will promote greenery in Karachi. Jungle jellies, almonds, flowers and other flowering plants will be planted, he added.
The campaign has enlisted the help of various private organizations, civil society and people from different walks of life to improve the city. Involve all people in the work done for and make these activities effective and successful He said that environmental pollution can be controlled through afforestation, artificial forests are being planted in different cities of the world to deal with the situation created by climate change and industrial and commercial activities in metropolitan cities. Therefore, it is important to provide a healthy environment here. The Administrator Karachi on the occasion directed the Director General Parks to take steps to ensure maximum participation of citizens in the tree planting campaign and identified such places.
Laiq Ahmed said that during this campaign not only planting of trees but also their complete protection and irrigation arrangements. There is also work to be done, so the park department Keep a complete record of all the plants planted during the tree planting campaign and arrange for their supervision.
