LAHORE—The Lahore Development Authority (LDA) sealed 102 illegal commercial buildings and commercialisation fee defaulter premises in different areas of Punjab capital on Monday.
LDA Town Planning Wing sealed 28 buildings in Gulberg and Faisal Town, 50 in Subzazar and Marghazar Colony, and 24 in Shadman, Shah Jamal, New Muslim Town and Canal Bank Road’s surroundings for illegal commercial use and nonpayment of commercialisation fees.
The sealed premises include Kips School, Unique School, The Spirit School, Stars Group of Schools, Lahore Literati Montessori and High School, Al-Baani School, saloon, private clinic, grocery stores, food outlets, offices and other businesses.
LDA Chief Town Planner I Assad-uz-Zaman supervised the operations, which were carried out by the enforcement teams with the help of the Police.
LDA officials say that several notices were served to the owners of these buildings before carrying out the operations.
LDA Director General Tahir Farooq has directed continuing indiscriminate operations against encroachments, violation of parking/building bylaws, illegal commercial buildings and commercialisation fee defaulters in the Punjab capital.
