LAHORE – Prominent playwright and screenwriter Khalilur Rehman Qamar on Thursday filed a complaint with the Cyber Crime Cell of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), accusing a “honey-trap” gang of leaking compromising videos of him on social media.
According to Qamar, earlier this month, a woman lured him to her residence under the guise of discussing a new drama project. Shortly after his arrival, armed men entered the home and assaulted him. He was reportedly allowed to leave only after paying a significant ransom.
In his complaint, Qamar alleged that the suspects blackmailed him and extorted a large sum of money. He claimed that after luring him to their location, the perpetrators recorded compromising videos of him and released them online when he refused to pay the extortion demands.
Qamar also mentioned that the supposed discussion of a soap opera never occurred as planned. He noted that his reputation was severely damaged after the inappropriate videos were made public.
FIA Cyber Crime Cell officials have confirmed receipt of Qamar’s complaint and have indicated that an investigation will be conducted soon.
Besides it, Qamar reported the incident to Sundar Police Station in Lahore on July 21, following the alleged kidnapping.
The investigation has led to the detention of Amina Urooj and eleven others, with the alleged ringleader, Hassan Shah, being arrested on Tuesday. The videos in question included footage of Qamar and the gang members involved in the alleged kidnapping.
One of the leaked clips not only features the inappropriate videos but also shows the gang setting up their trap and adjusting a camera to capture the encounter with Qamar. In the footage, Urooj and Hasan Shah are seen on the same couch where Qamar was seated, moments before armed men burst in, assaulted him, and later drove him around, robbing him of his valuables. The perpetrators are said to have abandoned Qamar in an isolated area after their demands were met.
