The University of Okara’s Directorate of Student Affairs, Department of International Relations and Department of Political Science jointly organized a range of activities including seminar, walk and signature wall in connection with the Kashmir Day.
A large number of administrative officers, faculty members and students participated in those activities, showing solidarity with the Kashmiris through speeches, lectures, slogans and signatures.
The UO’s Vice Chancellor, Prof Dr Sajid Rashid, in his special message at this eve, stated, “The academia has the responsibility to highlight the Kashmir cause among the global comity through debates and discourses in order to build pressure on India to resolve the issue in line with the resolutions of the United Nations.”
Addressing to the participants of the seminar, the Director Student Affairs, Dr Amjad Ali, said that paying tribute to the sacrifices of the Kashmiris and highlighting their righteous struggle was due on all Pakistanis.
Dr Fakhara Sahid, Head of the Department of IR, discussed about the practical policy options to resolve the Kashmir issue. Usman Shamim, Head of Department of Political Science, emphasized on the importance of solving certain internal problems of Pakistan so that the attention could be shifted towards the Kashmir issue.
Dr Shoaib Saleem, Dr Sumaira Ijaz and Nobahar Khan also addressed to the students.
The seminar was followed by a rally at the campus.
