ISLAMABAD – Justice Sardar Muhammad Sarfraz Dogar has been appointed as the acting Chief Justice of the Islamabad High Court (IHC).
The Ministry of Law and Justice issued a notification stating that Justice Sarfraz Dogar will perform the duties until the appointment of a permanent chief justice.
The court of the acting chief justice has been shifted to the Room No 1 of the high court where he will take up the cases for hearing.
It is recalled that the Judicial Commission of Pakistan recently approved the elevation of IHC Chief Justice Aamer Farooq to the Supreme Court.

The Ministry of Law, after the President’s approval, released the notification which confirmed that Justice Hashim Kakar, Justice Shafi Siddiqui, and Justice Salahuddin have been appointed as Supreme Court judges.
According to the notification, Justice Shakeel Ahmed, Justice Aamer Farooq, and Justice Ishtiaq Ibrahim have also been appointed as SCjudges.
The notification further stated that Justice Mian Gul Hassan Aurangzeb has been appointed as an acting judge of the Supreme Court under Article 181 and 175-A, while Justice Ijaz Swati has been appointed as the acting Chief Justice of the Balochistan High Court.
As per the notification, Justice Ijaz Swati will perform the duties until the appointment of a permanent BHC chief justice.
Additionally, Justice Junaid Ghafar has been appointed as the acting chief justice of the Sindh High Court, and Justice Atiq Shah has been appointed as the acting chief justice of the Peshawar High Court.
