Pakistan vs India men’s cricket final at the 2026 Asian Games will be played today in Nisshin, Japan, with both teams aiming to secure the gold medal.
The final is facing a potential weather disruption, with rain forecast for the area. According to AccuWeather, there is a 62% chance of rain on Saturday morning, while the probability is expected to fall to 25% in the afternoon.
Rain has already affected the Asian Games cricket competition, with the quarter-finals being cancelled because of bad weather.
What if rain prevents a result?
The rules for the 2026 Asian Games differ from those used at the previous edition in Hangzhou, China.
At the 2023 Asian Games, the men’s cricket final between India and Afghanistan was washed out because of rain. India were awarded the gold medal based on their superior T20 International ranking.
However, that rule will not apply at the 2026 Asian Games in Japan.
Under the rules for the current edition, if the final is abandoned or ends without a result because of rain, the gold medal will be awarded jointly to Pakistan and India.
The Pakistan-India final is scheduled to begin at 9:30am Pakistan time.
