ISLAMABAD: Justice Athar Minallah of the Supreme Court stressed upon the live streaming of the proceedings in the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) amendment case on Thursday.

“Given the previous instances, the case should be broadcast live,” Justice Minallah observed during the hearing of the intra-court appeals filed by the federal and provincial governments challenging the apex court’s decision to strike down the NAB amendments.

A SC five-member  bench led by Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa and comprising Justice Amin-ud-Din Khan, Justice Jamal Khan Mandokhail, Justice Minallah and Justice Hasan Azhar Rizvi heard the case.

During the hearing, the advocate general of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa informed the court that the provincial government had submitted a request for the live broadcast of the proceedings.

He said, “This is a matter of public interest,” .

At this, Chief Justice of Pakistan Isa remarked, “This is a technical case and not one of public interest.”

The court then adjourned briefly as the judges deliberated on the request for live streaming of the case proceedings.
