Security forces killed eight India-backed terrorists, including three key commanders, during an intelligence-based operation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Dera Ismail Khan district.
Scurity sources said on Sunday that the operation was launched on the basis of intelligence indicating the presence of militants affiliated with Fitna al-Khawarij in the area.
Security personnel also recovered a substantial quantity of weapons and ammunition from the site, along with foreign currency.
The latest operation came a day after security forces killed 11 militants in separate IBOs in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan.
Those operations were conducted in South Waziristan and the Gorindar-Mashkel area of Balochistan as part of continuing efforts to eliminate militant networks.
Pakistan has faced a significant increase in militant violence, particularly in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, since the Afghan Taliban returned to power in Afghanistan in 2021.
September 2026 saw the highest monthly number of militant attacks in Pakistan in 12 years.
