ISLAMABAD – Rains and gusty winds with isolated heavy falls and hailstorms are likely in Islamabad, Rawalpindi and parts of Pakistan on Friday night, Saturday and Sunday with occasional gaps.
The wet spell will provide much-needed relief to the people from the prevailing heatwaves.
According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), moderate to strong moist currents are expected to penetrate upper parts of Pakistan from tonight and likely penetrate central parts from tomorrow. A fresh westerly wave will likely affect upper and central part of the country from tomorrow.
Under these conditions, rains and gusty winds with isolated hailstorms are likely in the twin cities, Potohar region, northeast Punjab, Kashmir and upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Friday night.
On Saturday and Sunday, intermittent rains and gusty winds with isolated heavy falls and hailstorms are likely in the twin cities, Kashmir, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Punjab and northeast Balochistan.
Islamabad’s maximum temperature will likely remain between 34°C and 36°C on Saturday and between 35°C and 37°C on Sunday.
Rawalpindi’s maximum temperature will likely remain between 35°C and 37°C on Saturday and Sunday.
Meanwhile, hot and dry weather prevailed in Islamabad, Rawalpindi and most parts of Pakistan during the last 24 hours.
Sibbi remained the hottest place in Pakistan, where the maximum temperature was recorded at 51°C. The maximum temperature in Dadu was recorded at 50°C, and in Jacobabad, Nawabshah and Mohenjo-Daro at 49°C.
In Islamabad, the maximum temperature was recorded at 39°C. Relative humidity in the evening was recorded at 30 per cent.
In Rawalpindi, the maximum temperature was recorded at 38°C. Relative humidity in the evening was recorded at 29 per cent.
