Islamabad, Pakistan weather update; relief in sight as rains expected

ISLAMABAD – Rain-wind/thunderstorms are expected in Islamabad, Rawalpindi and parts of Pakistan on Friday evening/night, Saturday and Sunday. Intermittent rains will likely provide much needed respite to the people from the prevailing heatwave.

As per the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), continental air prevails over most parts of Pakistan. A westerly wave will likely enter western parts of the country on Friday evening/night). It will likely grip upper parts on Saturday.

Under the influence of this weather system, rain-wind/thunderstorms are expected in the twin cities and at isolated places in north Balochistan, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, upper Punjab, Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan on Friday evening/night and the following two days. Gusty/dust-raising winds are expected in central and southern parts of the country.

Intermittent rains will help bringing the temperatures to the normal levels during the weekend. Till today, day temperatures were 03-05 degrees Celsius above normal levels in Islamabad, Lahore and parts of Pakistan.

Islamabad’s maximum temperatures will likely remain between 36-38°C on Friday and 35-37°C on Saturday.

Rawalpindi’s maximum temperatures will likely remain between 36-38°C on Friday and Saturday.

Meanwhile, heatwave persisted in Islamabad, Rawalpindi and most parts of the country during the last 24 hours. Nawabshah and Dadu remained the hottest places in the country where the maximum temperature was recorded at 48°C.

In Islamabad, maximum temperature was recorded at 38°C. Relative humidity during the morning was recorded at 41 per cent.

In Rawalpindi, maximum temperature was recorded at 38°C. Relative humidity during the morning was recorded at 39 per cent.
