ISLAMABAD – The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has predicted rainfall of varying intensities with snowfall over mountains for Islamabad and parts of Pakistan during this week.
As per the synoptic situation, a westerly wave prevails over upper parts of Pakistan. It is likely to affect southern and western parts of the country from today evening/night.
Under these conditions, cold weather is expected in most parts of the country on Thursday evening/night, Friday and Saturday.
However, rain-wind/thunderstorm with snowfall over mountains is expected at isolated places in Gilgit Baltistan, upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir, Islamabad and Pothohar region. Heavy rainfall may cause flash flooding in local nullahs of Barkhan, Kohlu, Sibbi, Naseerabad, Dalbandin and Khuzdar on 02nd and 03rd February.
Heavy rain/ snow is likely at isolated places in Kashmir. Snowfall may affect the transportation in Murree, Galyat and tourists places in the country. Tourists are advised to be cautious. Fog is likely at few places in south Punjab and upper Sindh during night.
Islamabad’s minimum temperature will likely remain between 04-06 degrees Celsius on Friday and Saturday.
Meanwhile, rain-thunderstorm/snow occurred in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir, Pothohar region, Islamabad, northeast/central Punjab and Gilgit-Baltistan during the last 24 hours. Fog prevailed over few plain areas of south Punjab and upper Sindh.

Leh remained the coldest place in the country where mercury dropped 07 C below freezing.
In Islamabad, minimum temperature was recorded at 03 C. Relative humidity during the morning was recorded at 92 per cent.
