ISLAMABAD – Punjab Police launched an operation, raiding Imran Khan’s famous residence in the provincial capital on Saturday, and claimed to have recovered several weapons from the premises. As the former ruling party claims that the operation was in defiance of court orders, calling it unjustified, law enforcement officials maintained that they had a valid warrant to search the place for investigation.
PTI Chief Imran Khan in his latest address announced a power show at Minar e Pakistan on Wednesday, and soon police in Lahore and other cities started a crackdown against Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leaders and workers in mid-night action.
Shafqat Mehmood, Musarrat Jamshed Cheema, Karan Nadeem, Malik Waqar Ahmed, Chuahdry Salman, Ali Naveed Bhatti, and other leaders dodged police arrest. Cops also raided the residence of Senator Shibli Faraz, who is the chief of staff of Imran Khan.
Hundreds of PTI leaders are on the list to be arrested as the government tightened noose against the former ruling party in recent times.
‘Grand Operation’ at Zaman Park
Amid the continued action, reports in mainstream media suggest that the police might resort to another round of operation at Imran Khan’s Zaman Park residence.
It was learned that cops have started preparations to conduct another operation which will be more severe this time at Imran Khan’s residence as the PTI chief faces arrest in a flurry of cases, especially the recently lodged cases under terror charges.
Imran slams govt for authoritarian moves
Amid the action, PTI chief Imran Khan lambasted government over police action in Lahore and Islamabad. Taking it to Twitter, PTI chief called for immediate release of all PTI activists.
