The Sindh Irrigation Department has demanded the immediate release of 130,000 cusecs of water share from Indus River System Authority (IRSA) for 15 days immediately at Chashma Barrage as per clause 14(D) of the water accord 1991.
According to details, on the directions of the Sindh Minister for Irrigation Department, Jam Khan Shoro a letter has written to IRSA authorities for the immediate release of share of water.
Further, it was said in the letter to the IRSA authorities that the standing crop in Sindh and Balochistan is at very critical juncture and any cut on water share will ruin the agrarian economy of Sindh and Balochistan provinces.
According to the clause 14(D) of the water accord, 1991 that the provinces will have the freedom within their allocation to modify system-wise and period-wise uses of water”.
