WASHINGTON – A significant diplomatic meeting took place at the White House where US President Donald Trump welcomed Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir.
The talks between the two sides were held in the Oval Office. The meeting, originally planned for one hour, lasted two hours, reflecting the depth of dialogue between the two sides.
Who Were Present in the Meeting?
Accompanying President Trump were Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Middle East Special Representative Steve Witkoff.
National Security Advisor Lt Gen Asim Malik was present along with COAS in the meeting while Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi was also present in the White House.
US–Pakistan Agree to Deepen Counter-Terrorism and Economic Cooperation
During the meeting, both sides agreed to continue their collaboration on counter-terrorism and acknowledged Pakistan’s role in maintaining regional peace.
President Trump expressed interest in enhancing bilateral trade, focusing on key sectors including energy, mining, AI, and cryptocurrency.

Both sides also discussed ongoing Iran-Israel conflict that has created uncertainty in the Middle East. They also discussed other pressing global challenges.

President Trump lauded Field Marshal Asim Munir for his leadership and decisive approach. The Pakistani military chief thanked Trump for his role in the Pakistan-India ceasefire and extended an official invitation for a visit to Pakistan.
