Indian military has confirmed for the first time that unspecified numbers of fighter jets were shot down by Pakistan in recent skirmish.

While talking to Bloomberg TV said, India’s Chief of Defence Staff Anil Chauhan however refrained from specifying the exact number of aircraft lost by Indian military.

Chauhan said that mistakes were made during skirmishes with Pakistan and that these technical errors have been acknowledged.

He refused to reveal the number of Indian aircraft destroyed by Pakistan, saying that the number is not important; what matters is how the aircraft were brought down.

This admission by India has sparked a new debate at the international level and has endorsed the Pakistan’s stance that India was given a befitting response by Pakistani forces who defended the motherland with full force.

Earlier this month, India carried out aggression against Pakistan following the Pahalgam incident, targeting civilians and airbases. However, Pakistani armed forces gave a crushing response as six Indian fighter jets, including three Rafale aircraft, were shot down.

Pakistan Army later launched Operation “Bunyan-un-Marsoos”, destroying its defence system, damaging its various airbases and blowing up several pots.

Following the April 22 attack in Pahalgam where more than two dozen tourists were shot dead by unknown assailants, Indian started leveling allegations against Pakistan while Islamabad rejected them and called for an impartial probe into the incident.

India took several extreme steps such as suspending Indus Water Treaty and reducing strengthen of Pakistani diplomats.

Later, Pakistan’s National Security Committee (NSC) took stern measures after India’s unilateral decision to cut ties. The country’s top civil and military officials reviewed regional security environment in the aftermath of the April 22 terrorist attack in Pahalgam.
