Over dozen Afghan Militants killed in Infiltration Attempt at Ghulam Khan Sector

Over Dozen Afghan Militants Killed In Infiltration Attempt At Ghulam Khan Sector

PESHAWAR – Pakistani forces foiled infiltration attempt by 15 armed militants crossing into Pakistan from Afghan territory in the Ghulam Khan sector along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border, killing all those attempting to enter the country, according to sources.

The militants attempted to infiltrate through Pak-Afghan border area, prompting a swift response from security forces. The armed group was intercepted before it could advance further into Pakistani territory, with all 15 militants reportedly killed during the ensuing operation.

The infiltrators included alleged operatives linked to Commander Mazdigri Marwat as well as members of the Wazir group. The reported incident comes amid heightened tensions along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border, with Islamabad repeatedly raising concerns over militant groups allegedly operating from Afghan territory. Pakistan maintains that Afghan soil must not be used for attacks or terrorist activities against the country.

Security forces have reiterated their resolve to respond to threats to national security and maintain vigilance along the country’s western frontier.

The latest development also comes against the backdrop of continued friction between Islamabad and Kabul over cross-border militancy. Pakistan has repeatedly called on Afghan authorities to take concrete action against militant networks and prevent their territory from being used for attacks inside Pakistan. Afghan authorities have rejected Islamabad’s broader allegations of providing militant sanctuaries.

Sources said security operations and border surveillance remain ongoing, with authorities maintaining heightened vigilance to prevent further infiltration attempts.

Ghulam Khan sector remains a key area along the Pakistan-Afghanistan frontier, where security forces continue to monitor cross-border movement amid persistent security concerns.

Pakistan’s Strong Warning Over Terror Threats from Afghanistan

Pakistan issued forceful warning over terrorism allegedly emanating from Afghanistan, with ISPR Director General Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry saying that Islamabad will exercise its right to self-defence and take “everything that is necessary” to protect its territory and citizens.

Speaking at a press briefing, the DG ISPR said Pakistan would decide when, where and how to respond to threats from across the western border. He accused the Afghan Taliban regime of allowing militant groups to operate from its soil and questioned Kabul’s failure to prevent attacks targeting Pakistan, particularly in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan.

Lt Gen Chaudhry also alleged coordination among groups including the TTP, Al-Qaeda, ISKP and BLA, citing an August 26 meeting in Kandahar as an example of alleged militant cooperation.

Tensions have sharply escalated in recent months. Pakistan has conducted multiple airstrikes against alleged militant hideouts in Afghanistan under Operation Ghazab lil Haq, following cross-border attacks and drone incursions. Islamabad has also repeatedly demanded concrete action against TTP sanctuaries.
