Staff Reporter Sindh IG Dr Syed Kaleem Imam has urged the Home Department to form a Joint Investigation Team to investigate Energy Minister Imtiaz Shaikh, who has been accused of sheltering criminals in a police report. In a letter to the department, IGP Imam has attached Shikarpur SSP Dr Mohammad Rizwan Ahmed Khan’s leaked report that contains a number of accusations against Shaikh. The Shikarpur Police have accused Sindh Energy Minister Imtiaz Shaikh of being responsible for its failure of operations in the Katcha area against criminals, saying that the provincial minister was harboring them. The police said Imtiaz’s brother and son were also in touch with criminals. Sources said that SSP Shikarpur Dr. Rizwan had sent a 20-page secret report to IGP Sindh and DIGP Larkana, containing serious and explosive charges against the Minister for Energy and Power Imtiaz Shaikh for leaking police action in advance to the dacoit gangs in Shikarpur. The SSP recommended action against him. The report discloses that the criminals in the Katcha area had disturbed the peace of Shikarpur district and Imtiaz Shaikh was harbouring those. The police chief has asked the department to include members of law enforcement agencies in the JIT. He also recommended making a high court judge the team’s head. Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah has directed the provincial law department to submit a report on the matter.
