Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf leader Shehryar Afridi asserted on Saturday that he did not personally incarcerate Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah during his tenure as the narcotics control minister in 2019. Afridi made these remarks while addressing the media after appearing in a district and sessions court in Islamabad, where he was handed over to the police on a two-day physical remand.
Shehryar Afridi attended the court hearing presided over by Judge Naveed Khan for a case related to his alleged involvement in the May 9 riots. During the proceedings, the investigating officer requested a five-day physical remand for Afridi, citing the need to conduct photometric and voice matching tests. Judicial Magistrate Naveed Khan granted permission for Afridi to meet his family in the courtroom before being remanded to police custody for two days.
Upon reaching the rostrum, Shehryar Afridi became emotional and stated, “My brother passed away, and I was not allowed to participate in the funeral. Protesting is my constitutional right.
