Ameer Jamaat-e-Islami Karachi, Engr Hafiz Naeemur Rehman, criticized the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) government in Sindh for perpetuating corruption within the province’s police force instead of instituting reforms over the last decade and a half. Rehman highlighted a recent incident where a Station House Officer allegedly deprived a citizen of 11.8 million rupees, labeling such actions as police becoming “looters.”
He pointed out reports of short-term abductions, holding the PPP government accountable for the deteriorating situation. Rehman emphasized the alarming rise in crime rates in the city and criticized the police force for not fulfilling its obligations, suggesting they are acting against the people’s interests.
Hafiz Naeem attributed the corrupt practices to feudal lords who exploit innocent citizens, targeting their rights and possessions. According to Rehman, those in positions of power undermine people’s mandates, while lower-level authorities directly threaten the lives and possessions of citizens.
