Chairing a meeting, Minister for Planning Ahsan Iqbal has emphasized the pressing requirement to accelerate the construction of the Gwadar Power Plant. He instructed the relevant authorities to promptly address any obstacles hindering progress and commence construction without fur-ther delay.
The Gwadar Power Plant, a 300MW coal power project facilitated by M/s CIHC Pak Power Company (Pvt) Limited (CPPCL), occupies a pivotal position on the priority list of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). There is no denying that uninterrupted electricity supply is im-perative for Gwadar’s development trajectory. Gwadar has long been earmarked as a strategic nexus for trade and commerce. However, its po-tential has been hindered by infrastructural deficiencies. The completion of the Gwadar Power Plant promises to alleviate this constraint. With re-liable electricity supply underpinning industrial growth and economic ac-tivity, the port city can attract investment, stimulate job creation, and catalyze the development of ancillary industries. The establishment of the power plant aligns seamlessly with the broader vision for Gwadar’s trans-formation into a vibrant economic hub. Ahsan Iqbal’s unwavering focus on CPEC-related projects underscores their pivotal role as the lifeline of Pakistan’s economy. With initiatives such as the Gwadar Port City devel-opment, the New Gwadar International Airport, and the East Bay Ex-pressway gaining momentum, Gwadar is poised to emerge as a maritime trade powerhouse and a beacon of economic prosperity. Minister Ahsan Iqbal’s proactive approach to project management and strategic planning has always been a hallmark of his tenure. His steadfast commitment to the realization of CPEC’s potential underscores the government’s dedication to fostering sustainable economic growth and regional connectivity. While we commend Ahsan Iqbal’s endeavours to ensure the timely com-pletion of CPEC-related projects, we anticipate that due consideration will be given to the inclusion of local communities in these initiatives. It is imperative that necessary training programs be organized to equip them with the skills required for various industries.
