Central Information Secretary Pakistan People’s Party Parliamentarians and Member of the National Assembly Shazia Atta Marri while addressing a press conference has said that 5th July, 1977 was the darkest day in the history of Pakistan, it was the day when democracy was derailed in the country and Pakistan’s elected Prime Minister was imprisoned.

She added that we are still suffering the terrible effects of dictator Zia ulHaq’s actions. Marri said that nowadays, country is facing many challenges and even today fabric of the government in Pakistan is similar to the thinking of Zia-ul-Haq while puppet rulers are ruling in the country.

She said that likewise in the era of dictator Zia ulHaq, ban has been imposed on the freedom of expression in the country and journalists as well as people cannot talk about public issues openly.

“Journalists who cover public issues are also at risk because they talk about poor performance of this government & highlight their incompetence”, she added.

She lamented on Niazi’s government and said that inflation ratio has been growing day by day in  the country and Imran Niazi who used to say that when the rulers of the country involved in corruption resulted price hikes.

“Even, the situation is worst today, each Pakistani indebted of Rs. 2 lakh”, she added.

She said that holding half a dozen press conferences by government ministers cannot benefit Pakistan and they only use abusive and vulgar language against the opposition parties.

When Bilawal Bhutto Zardari stood up during his budget speech and demanded that the parliament should be taken into confidence on the issue of Afghanistan.
