The first draw for the allotment of the houses under the Naya Pakistan Housing Project was held in Hazro town of Attock on Wednesday.
Punjab Minister for Housing, Urban Development and Public Health Engineering Mian Mehmood-ur-Rasheed was chief guest at first balloting under the Naya Pakistan Housing Project.
The Naya Pakistan housing scheme in Hazro town of Attock is spread over 400 kanals of land comprising 587 plots that include 187 plots of 5 marla each and 400 plots of 3 marla each.
The colony would have a park, walking track and commercial area comprising 38 shops. The project would be completed with an allocation of Rs 37.972 million.
Speaking at ceremony, Mehmood-ur-Rasheed has said that the present government’s plan for five million houses brings hope for underprivileged as provision for low-cost houses for the masses was a vision of Prime Minister Imran Khan and the Punjab Government is now turning into a reality.
He added that the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), in its election manifesto, had promised to provide low-cost houses to homeless people across the country in the scenario that it assumes power and the balloting for the houses is a step towards making this slogan in to reality.
The minister said, ”the project is not only a step towards fulfilling the commitment made with the public by the party.”
He said the construction of five million houses for low-income segments of society across the country was a difficult task while PTI Government would on the other hand, took it as a challenge and necessary legislation was being made to provide loans to people.
He said PTI Government was also striving to develop Pakistan as such a welfare state and the Naya Pakistan Housing Project was part of a process.
