ISLAMABAD – The contacts have been made between the government and the opposition regarding a meeting with PTI Founder Imran Khan and the protest planned for October 15 in Islamabad, the soutces said on Monday.
The sources ssid that Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi made a telephone call to PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan last night.
They said that the Interior Minister assured Barrister Gohar that a meeting with PTI founder Imran Khan would take place this afternoon.
PTI sources added that the Federal Interior Minister assured Barrister Gohar Ali of a personal meeting with Imran Khan.
Barrister Gohar has also requested a meeting between Imran Khan and his personal physician.
On Sunday, Barrister Gohar formally submitted a request to the Ministry of Interior for a meeting with the PTI founder, asking for himself and Hamid Khan to be allowed to meet Imran Khan.
The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has called for a protest on October 15 at D-Chowk, Islamabad.
On the same day, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit will begin in Islamabad, with the participation of heads of state and 200 delegations.
Meanwhile, PTI spokesperson Waqas Akram Sheikh stated that if the government facilitates their meeting with Imran Khan, they would call off the October 15 protest.
On the other hand, PML-N Senator Talal Chaudhry said the meeting is just an excuse, and the real target is the SCO summit.
He added that there is no need for the government to arrange the meeting, nor is there any court order mandating it.
