Governor Punjab Chaudhry Mohammad Sarwar on Monday called on Prime Minister Imran Khan and briefed him about proceedings of his successful visit to the United Kingdom. Prime Minister Imran Khan appreciated the successful visit of Governor Punjab to UK.
Chaudhry Sarwar briefed PM about his meetings with the Speaker, Ministers, Lords, Members of Parliament and more than 100 other personalities during his stay in the UK.
He informed the prime minister that during the visit, discussions were held on Pakistan’s initiative for peace in Afghanistan, Billion Tree Project, Pak-UK relations and other issues and briefed them about steps being taken by Pakistan to bring peace and eradicate terrorism.
Governor Punjab said that more than 20 ministers from UK, members of Parliament, and Lords from various political parties will be visiting Pakistan and these visits will commence this month.
The British MPs also appreciated Pakistan’s Billion Tree project and other steps taken by Pakistan to curb the Coronavirus pandemic, including the Smart Lockdown.
Chaudhry Sarwar apprised Prime Minister Imran Khan about Punjab Aab-e-Pak Authority that is working on more than 1500 projects in Lahore and other cities and rural areas through which Punjab Aab-e-Pak Authority will provide clean drinking water to about 8 million people of Punjab by the end of this month, and with the collaboration of NGOs, almost the same number of people will be provided clean drinking water. He further said that steps are being taken to bring reforms in the universities.
Speaking during the meeting, Prime Minister Imran Khan said that Pakistan stands with peace, and has made sacrifices for the eradication of terrorism and Pakistan is also playing its role for peace in Afghanistan. The welfare of the people and provision of basic facilities is the priority of the government for which all measures will be ensured.
