LAHORE – A seminar titled “Financial Literacy and Entrepreneurship as a Proven Life Skill” was organized by the Department of Economics, University of Gujrat, at the Hafiz Hayat Campus. The resource person for the seminar was Salman Shehzad, Project Director, NIBAF Islamabad. The seminar was hosted by Professor Dr. Faisal Mahmood Mirza, Dean Faculty of Social Sciences and Chairperson, Department of Economics.
The purpose of the seminar was to equip students with modern entrepreneurial awareness, innovation-driven business thinking, and an understanding of financial literacy and self-employment in today’s fast-changing world, thereby introducing them to essential life skills and approaches to living.
Speaking to the students in a simple and refined manner, Salman Shehzad said that a productive and practical idea can lead any business to success. He emphasized that challenging assumptions is essential for the success of business plans. Solving people’s problems through innovative methods is what entrepreneurship truly is. He advised students to showcase their intelligence and capabilities by addressing everyday challenges with creativity. Decisions grounded in understanding and wisdom, he added, are long-lasting. Planning is crucial for becoming a successful individual in life. Financial stability is the key to real success. Saving, he noted, is a habit that frees a person from many troubles and leads to a smoother and happier life.
Through various activities, Salman Shehzad explained the principles and methods of financial saving and encouraged students to pursue entrepreneurship and self-business.
Professor Dr. Faisal Mahmood Mirza stated that knowledge flourishes through curiosity, questioning, and the promotion of innovative approaches. Effective use of resources plays an important role in leading a successful life. The University of Gujrat is committed to promoting modern educational concepts among students and supporting their success. In the present era, the job market situation is quite challenging; however, by nurturing entrepreneurial awareness among young students, the indicators of economic development can be improved.
The seminar was moderated by Dr. Qurat-ul-Ain Abr-ur-Rehmat. A large number of students attended the seminar and benefited from it.
