Atif Ikram Sheikh, President of the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI), has pledged full support to Sindh Police in maintaining law and order in the region. He emphasized that both the business community and law enforcement share a common goal of a secure, economically vibrant, and business-friendly Sindh.

“The business community is directly affected by the law-and-order challenges, and it is in our interest to back Sindh Police in their courageous efforts,” said Sheikh. Javed Alam Odho, Additional Inspector General (AIG) of Karachi, visited the FPCCI headquarters for an interactive session with the business, industry, and trade community.

He addressed their concerns and provided immediate solutions, including substantive orders and follow-up actions to improve the security situation. AIG Odho also briefed FPCCI on Sindh Police’s recent performance, which has shown a declining crime rate in Karachi, although he acknowledged that more work is needed to fully restore investor confidence. FPCCI President Sheikh also paid tribute to the sacrifices made by Sindh Police personnel, highlighting their role in safeguarding the region despite daily risks.

He stressed the media’s role in showcasing the positive contributions and sacrifices of Sindh Police. Saquib Fayyaz Magoon, Senior Vice President of FPCCI, proposed allowing FPCCI to access the online FIR portal for quicker resolution of business community complaints.  He also suggested organizing a joint seminar to promote Sindh as an investment-friendly region. AIG Odho discussed several technological initiatives, such as e-tagging, facial recognition cameras, and safe city projects, to improve security in Karachi.

He also outlined the recruitment of additional police personnel and emphasized the need for technology to enhance policing efficiency. Plans for the Karachi Safe City project will be implemented in the coming year, using GPS and cellular data to assist in crime reduction.
