ISLAMABAD – Pakistan’s Foreign Minister and United Kingdom Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth, and Development Affairs explored new avenues of bilateral ties and exchanged views for strengthening mechanisms of cooperation.
Dar held a telephone conversation with the UK’s Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth, and Development Affairs and reiterated resolve to enhance bilateral ties.
In the call, the two sides discussed bilateral relations and regional issues. Dar and Cameron also resolved to continue working closely to further enhance strong bilateral cooperation in trade, investment, education, climate change & people-to-people contacts.
Foreign Minister highlighted longstanding and diverse cooperation between Islamabad and Britain, emphasizing the importance of concluding the Enhanced Strategic Partnership (ESP) agreement to elevate the relationship.
Dar also underscored the need to boost trade, investment, and people-to-people contacts, as well as to resume PIA flights between the two countries, especially given the significant Pakistani diaspora in the UK.
The ministers also discussed regional matters such as Afghanistan and Gaza, and the Foreign Minister invited Lord Cameron to visit Pakistan at a convenient time.
