Says ‘scale of justice will be balanced before elections

Maryam Nawaz, the senior vice president of Pakistan Muslim League-N, has made some explosive claims regarding the former Chief Justice of Pakistan, Justice (retd) Saqib Nisar, and ex-spy chief Gen (retd) Faiz Hameed. She has accused them of still supporting Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf chief Imran Khan “through their pawns”.

Addressing a party workers convention in Sahiwal on Monday, Maryam alleged that remnants of Faiz Hameed are still protecting Imran Khan and that he is calling the shots while sitting in Chakwal. She also accused former CJP Nisar of facilitating Imran through his “henchmen”.

Maryam brought up the leaked audio clip of former judge Arshad Malik, who sentenced former prime minister Nawaz Sharif in the assets beyond means case. In the audio clip, Judge Malik allegedly confessed that he convicted Nawaz Sharif under duress. Maryam referred to this as evidence of the previous PTI government’s manipulation of the judiciary to target the PML-N.

During the speech, Maryam apparently responded to the criticism that the ruling PDM is trying to delay the elections amid fears of defeat due to prevailing economic crisis and rocketing inflation.
