Eid-ul-Adha is a religious congregation which gives great lesson to the Muslims all over the world, i.e. to scarify one’s Will before Allah the Almighty. On Eid-ul-Adha, Muslims slaughter animals such as sheep, goat, cow and camel in the name of Allah to remind that Hazrat Ibrahim (A.S) readily sacrificed his son, Hazrat Ismail (A.S) according to the Will of Allah. The purpose of these scarifies is simple, to Please Allah. It is celebrated in the month of Zil-Hajj. The pilgrims in Makkah perform the scarifice on 10th of Zil-Hajj. It is reminder of Ibrahim’s obedience to Allah.
All Muslims go to mosques for Eid prayers. After the Eid prayers, animals are scarified. Butchers become the most important persons on the occasion. Meat is distributed amongst the poor and the needy as well as to the relatives. On the Eid Day, women, men and children wear new clothes. Delicious and tasty food is cooked in every home. People also invite their relatives on lunch or on dinner and eat together. In short, Eid-ul-Adha leaves the message that we should be ready to the Will of Allah and the sacrifice of animals is a metaphoric act of Muslims in this regard.
