Education minister’s visits give a facelift to Islamabad’s schools

Caretaker Federal Minister for Education & Professional Training, Madad Ali Sindhi continues to conduct surprise visits to the schools of Islamabad working under the umbrella of the Federal Directorate of Education (FDE) for their academic, administrative and infrastructure transformation. This he has been doing uninterruptedly since the first day he took the oath of his office.

On Monday, too, he visited a girls’ school in the Sector F-6/3 (Kohsar Market) where the school administration with the support of the local community has enhanced the existing facilities by introducing innovative practices.

Madad Ali Sindhi who himself is an academician and has a rich scholarly background, appreciated the local community’s role in providing support to the school.

Expressing admiration for the collective commitment of the community, the Minister acknowledged the substantial improvements in the School and applauded the spirit of collaboration that has propelled this initiative.

It is my vision to upgrade all the government schools and bring them at par with the modern seats of learning in the private sector but scarcity of funds is the main hurdle in realizing this dream. He however, promised improvement of at least 25 schools of Islamabad which would be ideal for the children and would be equipped with the latest learning methods and mechanisms like computers, laboratories and libraries.

Deputy Secretary Ministry of Federal Education & Professional Training, Ms Ammara Nasim who has recently been to the ‘Dubai COP28’ summit drew the attention of the school administration towards use of ‘green practices’ at the school. This concept is receiving international acceptance, she said.

She highlighted the importance of focusing on Education for Sustainable Development (ESD), with a specific emphasis on addressing climate change in teaching methods, facilities and operations, school governance, and community partnerships.

The teachers were asked to introduce concepts such as ‘green energy’ ‘green learning’ and ‘zero carbon’ etc.

The minister on the occasion directed upgradation of 20 government primary schools in Islamabad, aligning them with the transformative model set by girls school in Sector F-6/3.

This aims to enhance educational infrastructure and quality of learning across these institutions within the next six weeks. The initiative reflects the government’s unwavering commitment to fostering quality education, empowering communities, and creating an environment.
