Provincial Minister for Industries and Commerce Jam IkramullahDharejo emphasized the urgent need for electric vehicles to address environmental pollution and fuel conservation. The remarks were made during a meeting at the Sindh Secretariat, where he met with representatives from the Yusuf Dewan Group.
The meeting, chaired by Minister Dharejo, included key attendees such as Secretary Industries and Commerce Muhammad YasinSharBaloch, MD Site Ghazanfar Ali Qadri, and Dewan Group representatives HasanZafar, SaadMurad Khan, Captain (retd) KashifRiaz, and Saleha Hassan. Minister Dharejo highlighted the critical role of electric vehicles in reducing environmental pollution and conserving fuel, underscoring their importance in today’s context.
The meeting focused on collaborative efforts to promote the adoption of electric vehicles in Sindh, aiming to pave the way for a cleaner and more sustainable future. ‘Pakistan is one of the most polluted countries in the world and the use of these vehicles will help in dealing with environmental pollution ‘, said Dharejo. He said that the manufacturing of electric vehicles at the local level would not only save foreign exchange but employment opportunities would also be created at the local level.
Jam IkramullahDharejo added, ‘ Small size fire trucks are also the need of the hour as these trucks can easily move through narrow streets and slum areas to extinguish fire in case of fire. Provincial Minister Jam IkramullahDharejo said that more and more charging stations need to be installed to make electric vehicles successful.
Mass publicity is also needed to encourage the common man to use electric vehicles. He assured the representatives of Dewan Group that Sindh government would play its full role to promote the automobile industry. He would talk to the relevant departments that the use of electric vehicles should be promoted in the government departments.
