9LAHORE – Dense fog has blanketed several cities of Punjab and Sindh forcing authorities to close several sections of motorways on Friday in order to avoid any mishap.
The intensifying fog has also affected the flight schedule in Lahore while some flights were diverted from Karachi due to weather conditions.
A spokesperson for Motorway Police said Motorway M2 from Lahore to Kot Momin, M3 from Lahore to Abdul Hakim, M4 from Pindi Bhattian to Abdul Hakim, M5 from Sher Shah to Rohri and M11 from Lahore to Sialkot have been closed due to fog.
The police have asked citizens to use GT Road for travelling as visibility has dropped to very low on motorways.
Meanwhile, flight operation has been suspended at the Allama Iqbal International Airport in Lahore due to dense fog.
The Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) official said visibility on the runway has decreased to 150 meters, causing suspension of flights.
A Lahore-bound flight of Saudi Airlines was diverted to Islamabad due to fog.
In Karachi, three flights have been cancelled while several others are delayed due to poor weather conditions.
