Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar held separate telephone calls with Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan and Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan to discuss progress on the Makkah Defence Alliance, the Foreign Office said.
In his conversation with Prince Faisal, Dar reviewed regional and international developments and exchanged views on issues of common interest, including cooperation at multilateral forums.
The two ministers also discussed the implementation of understandings reached at the first meeting of the Strategic Political and Defence Committee established under the Makkah Joint Defence Agreement in Istanbul on August 31.
The defence pact was signed by Pakistan and Saudi Arabia on August 7, with Turkiye also part of the alliance’s follow-up mechanism. Dar and Prince Faisal agreed to maintain close coordination on matters of mutual interest.
Separately, Dar spoke with Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan and thanked him for hosting the inaugural meeting of the Strategic Political and Defence Committee in Istanbul.
The two sides reviewed the outcomes of the meeting and discussed steps to strengthen cooperation under the Makkah Defence Alliance.
They also exchanged views on regional and global issues, matters of mutual interest and opportunities to enhance coordination through multilateral platforms. Dar and Fidan agreed to remain in regular contact.
