Armed forces have reaffirmed their readiness to defend Pakistan, warning that any hostile action would be met with a swift and firm response.
The message came on Sunday as the nation observed the 61st Defence and Martyrs’ Day, with senior military leadership paying tribute to those who sacrificed their lives in defence of the country.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Naveed Ashraf, Chief of Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu, Commander National Strategic Command General Syed Aamer Raza and personnel of the armed forces honoured the country’s martyrs.
The military leadership also expressed gratitude to the Ghazis and acknowledged the courage and resilience demonstrated by the families of fallen soldiers.
In a statement, ISPR said the armed forces were fully equipped and prepared to safeguard Pakistan’s sovereignty, territorial integrity and national interests.
The military said Pakistan remained committed to promoting peace, stability and prosperity across the region, while adhering to responsible behaviour and peaceful coexistence with other countries.
However, it stressed that the country’s preference for peace should not be interpreted as a lack of resolve.
September 6 holds particular significance in Pakistan’s national history as it commemorates the country’s defence during the 1965 war. ISPR described the day as a lasting representation of national unity, courage and determination, recalling the way the nation rallied together to defend its homeland.
The military paid special tribute to generations of Shuhada who gave their lives while serving Pakistan on land, in the air and at sea.
According to ISPR, the sacrifices of the martyrs represent the highest values of duty, honour and devotion to the country. Their example, it added, continues to motivate future generations.
The families of the martyrs were also praised for their strength and perseverance in the face of immense personal loss.
The armed forces further recognised the Ghazis, saying their courage, dedication and steadfast service had played a vital role in protecting the country’s borders.
On the occasion, the military leadership renewed its commitment to serving Pakistan and its people with dedication.
ISPR said the sacrifices of the Shuhada, the bravery of the Ghazis and the resilience of their families would remain a lasting source of national pride and strength.
The armed forces reaffirmed that they would continue fulfilling their constitutional and national responsibilities with professionalism, honour and determination while remaining united with the people of Pakistan.
