Pakistan has dispatched 100 tonnes of relief aid to Nepal following devastating floods and landslides that have killed more than 1,300 people.
Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar expressed solidarity with the people of Nepal, saying the relief consignment includes tents, blankets, mats, hygiene kits and medicines.
According to Nepal’s disaster agency, 1,341 people have died and nearly 4,996 remain missing. In neighbouring Tibet, 43 people have been killed and 519 are missing, taking the combined death toll to 1,384.
The disaster has caused extensive damage to homes and infrastructure, with losses estimated at 387.5 billion Nepalese rupees ($2.56 billion). At least 7,500 homes were destroyed, while around 20,000 will need to be rebuilt.
The UN and humanitarian partners have launched a $49.6 million emergency appeal to assist more than 84,000 people affected by the disaster.
Nepal will observe a national day of mourning on Monday as rescue and identification efforts continue.
