Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar and his Iranian counterpart Abbas Araghchi discussed the importance of dialogue, diplomacy and sustained engagement to promote regional peace and stability during a meeting in New York, the Foreign Office said on Thursday.
The ministry said that the two ministers met on the sidelines of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly, where they also discussed bilateral relations and exchanged views on regional and international developments.
The FM underscored the importance of dialogue, diplomacy and sustained engagement in promoting regional peace and stability, the FO said. The two sides also agreed to remain in close contact , it added.
Later, FM Dar met South Korean Foreign Minister Cho Hyun, and the two reviewed bilateral relations and discussed ways to strengthen cooperation, particularly in trade, investment and economic ties, according to a post by the FO.
Dar emphasised the importance of greater business-to-business engagement to unlock new opportunities.
The Korean foreign minister also appreciated Pakistan s constructive role in promoting dialogue and diplomacy to address regional issues.
The two Foreign Ministers also underscored the importance of the multilateral system and reaffirmed their commitment to working together at the UN and other multilateral fora on issues of mutual interest, the Foreign Office said.
