Da Afghanistan bank deputy calls for enhanced Islamic banking practices

Sediqullah Khalid, the First Deputy of Da Afghanistan Bank (DAB), called on representatives of commercial banks to take practical steps towards the growth and development of Islamic banking during a meeting on financial services development.

According to a press release from Da Afghanistan Bank, the meeting, led by Deputy Sediqullah Khalid and attended by representatives of commercial banks and the Bankers Association, focused on the expansion and enhancement of financial services.

During the meeting, Deputy Khalid announced the reduction of certain restrictions on citizens’ deposits and anticipated further progress in this area.

He urged commercial banks to provide necessary facilities for opening new customer accounts, implement incentive measures, and review banking fees to ensure ease of service for citizens.

In the end, Sediqullah Khalid emphasized the importance of promoting Islamic banking in the country and requested commercial banks to take concrete actions to support its growth. He also discussed the issue of recovering difficult-to-obtain loans and pledged cooperation with the representatives of commercial banks in this regard— Bakhtar News
