In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, Anjuman Auqaf Jamia Masjid, Srinagar, has denounced in strong terms the continued illegal house detention of its President and senior APHC leader, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq.
Mirwaiz Umar Farooq has been under continued house arrest since August 05, 2019 when Narendra Modi-led fascist Indian government repealed the special status of IIOJK.
Anjuman Auqaf in a statement issued in Srinagar said for the last 172 Fridays, the Mirwaiz, who is also the topmost religious leader of the territory, has been facing with great courage and determination the restrictions and curbs imposed by the authorities on his movement. It said, in the absence of the Mirwaiz, a large number of people, who come from cities and towns to listen to his Friday sermons at the central Jamia Masjid, Srinagar, are returning deeply disappointed, which is extremely unfortunate and shameful.
It severely castigated the authorities for their dictatorial attitude and prolonging the undue curbs on the Mirwaiz and said the people are deeply concerned and fail to understand how long will the interference in religious matters and restrictions on their leader’s personal freedom continue?
Meanwhile, the Anjuman expressed deep grief over the demise of longtime well-wishers of the Mirwaiz family. These include Abdul Ahad Mir, the elder brother of Nowshera constituency president Muhammad Ashraf Mir and Khwaja Ghulam Rasool Zargar of Umar Colony Lal Bazar, who is the brother-in-law of Jalaluddin Reshi.
The Anjuman expressed condolences with both bereaved families on behalf of the organisation and the Mirwaiz and expressed solidarity with them. It also prayed for Jannat-ul-Firdous to the departed souls.
A delegation comprising Maulana M S Rehman Shams, Ghulam Jeelani, Haji Bashir Ahmad, Muhammad Aafaaq and others visited the bereaved families and conveyed the condolence message of Mirwaiz Umar Farooq to them, besides offering Fateha for the elevation of ranks in Jannah for the departed souls.—KMS
