CM Punjab greenlights innovative green hydrogen project for sustainable energy future

Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi has granted in-principle approval for the Green Hydrogen Project, urging the development of a comprehensive plan for its implementation in Punjab. In a special meeting chaired by the Chief Minister, the project was assessed as a vital alternative energy source for the province. Chief Minister MohsinNaqvi emphasized the inevitability of hydrogen use as an alternative energy in the future, highlighting its environmental friendliness.

The Secretary of Energy provided a detailed briefing on the Green Hydrogen Project, with a specific focus on Grey, Blue, and Green Hydrogen Energy. The briefing outlined the modern technology involved in electrolyzing water to separate oxygen and hydrogen. The project is expected to save $38 million in foreign exchange for Punjab, generating job opportunities for 8 to 10 thousand individuals. Adequate land and water supply will be facilitated for the inaugural Green Hydrogen Project in Punjab.

The global trend of increasing green hydrogen usage, witnessed in countries like the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, and China, was discussed. Examples of buses and trains in India and ships powered by hydrogen energy in Korea were also cited. The meeting, attended by Provincial Minister SM Tanveer, Chairman P&D, Secretary Energy, Secretary Finance, and other relevant officials.Meanwhile A special meeting, chaired by Chief Minister Punjab Mohsin Naqvi, was convened to deliberate on the Department of Tourism, with a particular focus on orchestrating the 19th Cholistan Desert Rally. In-principle approval was granted for the 7-day South Punjab Mela in Bahawalpur. Chief Minister MohsinNaqvi, during the meeting, scrutinized the prospects of establishing a tent hotel in Cholistan and issued directives for the tourism department to procure tents. Emphasizing top-tier traffic management, the Chief Minister underscored the importance of seamless coordination during the Cholistan Desert Rally.

Provincial Secretary Tourism, Raja Jahangir Anwar, delivered an exhaustive briefing, highlighting the potential boost in tourism through the “Pretty Punjab” branding initiative. Anticipating widespread participation, millions are expected to join Punjab’s largest desert jeep rally. Multinational companies will be extended invitations to become official partners in the Jeep Rally.

The meeting was attended by Provincial Minister Amir Mir, Secretary P&D, MDT DCP, GM Operations TDCP, and other dignitaries.
