Climate Change dept, MUET sign MoU for research

The Environment, Climate Change and Coastal Development Department of Sindh government and Mehran University of Engineering and Technology, Jamshoro, Monday signed an informal agreement to conduct joint research and cooperate in the field of environment.

Mohammad Aslam Ghauri, Sindh Secretary Environment and Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Muhammad Aslam Uqaili signed a Memorandum of Understanding in this regard at a ceremony in Jamshoro, according to the department’s spokesman.

According to the MoU, the two sides will further enhance their performance in environmental improvement through cooperation, partnership and exchange of knowledge as well as explore scientific and research opportunities in the field of environment and climate change to achieve their stated objectives more efficiently.

The MoU said that the two sides would be able to plan further progress in the discharge of their core responsibilities in the light of each others skills and experience to achieve the best results of their efforts.

The two sides also agreed that their available scientific and research resources for the conservation and protection of natural resources would be exchanged and that experts from both institutions would assist and guide each other as much as possible.

The memorandum also pledges to work together to raise environmental awareness.     However, under the MoU, all actions would be taken voluntarily by both parties and would not be subject to any financial or legal obligations in that regard.
