Pak Sarzameen Party Chairman Syed Mustafa Kamal on Tuesday said that there is a dire need to clear the filth from the minds of the rulers of Karachi, rather than cleaning the filth of Karachi drains. For the past few days, the Sindh Chief Minister has been trying unsuccessfully to give an impression that Karachi is much better today than it was ten years agi, even the world recognizes that Pakistani media was more independent ten years ago than it is today. Ten years ago, not only the Pakistani media but also the international media used to give examples of Karachi’s development. Karachi was one of the 12 fastest growing cities in the world a decade back, but, today the city is one of the four worst livable cities in the world. “God knows who is misleading the Chief Minister about Karachi through a power point presentation.” No one can make a Chief Minister understand who thinks that Karachi, the economic lifeline of Pakistan, is in the best condition today. The fact is, Karachi, the economic jugular of the country is sinking due to the very poor strategies of the corrupt, and incompetent rulers. The conscienceless rulers who ignore Karachi as just a city should understand that the destruction of Karachi is the destruction of Pakistan. Commenting over the statements of federal and provincial ministers, he said Karachi is not an occupied Kashmir where the federation and institutions can absolve themselves of their responsibilities only by declaring moral support. Like Islamabad, Lahore and Peshawar, Karachi is not only a part of Pakistan but also a revenue engine of Pakistan. Kamal said this while talking to the volunteers of PSP Foundation engaged in relief activities in District East. He further said that the mayor Karachi, who was shedding crocodile’s tears at the farewell press conference on the eve of the completion of his tenure. He should have been the hero of Karachi today only if he had resigned from the post by holding a similar press conference for the sake of Karachi in 2017.
