CDA to install security cameras in parks to ensure visitors’ safety, wellbeing

The Capital Development Authority has decided to install security cameras in parks and playgrounds of the federal capital.
The decision for installation of security cameras was taken during a high level meeting presided over by the Chairman of the Authority Amir Ali Ahmed on Thursday.
According to a press release issued here Thursday, the objective is to provide a safe and secure environment to the people visiting the parks and to keep watch on vile elements.
In this regard, the Directorate of Parks has been asked to work in liaison with ICT police, the press statement further says.
The Capital Development Authority has also decided to discourage and penalize littering by motorists on roads. For this purpose the Capital Development Authority has decided to work in collaboration with a safe city project which will provide imagery of motorists littering on roads. The motorists littering on roads detected by safe city project cameras will be fined subsequently.
A control room will be established for this purpose. Relevant formation of the Capital Development Authority has been directed to work in lion with safe city projects to evolve a workable mechanism for this purpose.
Senior officers of the Capital Development Authority and ICT Police attended the meeting. The meeting was held in the backdrop of providing a safe and secure environment to the people visiting parks as part of a comprehensive strategy to provide maximum facilities to the residents of Islamabad after shifting of four directorates from MCI to CDA.
Meanwhile, the Authority is engaged in a number of civic and municipal projects for the beautification of the city. After shifting of various directorates from the MCI to the CDA, the authority is carrying out a number of projects aiming to provide facilities according to international standards to the citizens.
In this regard, the MPO Directorate is carrying on carpeting work on Islamabad Expressway and providing machinery to other formations for other civic works.
Environment Wing has almost removed wild growth from the entire city while maintenance work in parks is in full swing. CDA has completed illumination of F-9 Park and work for repair and maintenance of street lights around the city is also proceeding swiftly .In eight days , CDA has removed 5200 tons of garbage from the city.
Meanwhile, the Capital Development Authority has removed around 5200 tons of garbage from Islamabad during the last eight days. This huge volume of garbage has been removed from the capital following the shifting Directorate of Sanitation from MCI to CDA. 2000 tons of garbage has been removed from Bara Kahu area alone. The average collection of garbage from Islamabad per day now is 650 tons per day which used to be below 500 tons when the Sanitation Directorate used to perform under MCI.
