Sindh Cabinet Committee on Finance convened a meeting chaired by Provincial Minister for Energy and Planning and Development Board Sindh, Syed Nasir Hussain Shah. Attendees included Sindh Local Government Minister Saeed Ghani, Sindh Interior and Law Minister Zia-ul-Hassan Lanjar, and Sindh Government Spokesperson Sumita Afzal Syed. Senior officials from various departments also participated in the session to deliberate on critical development and financial matters.

The committee approved a payment of Rs.120 million from non-development funds for the 400kW solarization of Sanghar Cadet College. However, it was mandated that all cadet colleges across Sindh, including Sanghar Cadet College, should optimize their personal funds to reduce dependency on government grants in the future. The committee reviewed the ongoing road construction project in Sujawal, initiated in 2021 with an allocation of Rs.77.858 million.

With Rs.29.88 million already spent, the remaining Rs.47 million was conditionally approved for release. However, committee members expressed reservations and required a written guarantee to avoid a cost review for the project. The committee discussed allocating Rs.20 million to promote Sindhi culture through dramas, films, and web series.

The agenda was directed to be forwarded to the Sindh Information Department for further processing. Minister Nasir Hussain Shah highlighted the allocation of a Rs.1 billion fund in the Information Department to support cultural initiatives. The Director of the Kidney Center presented a request for a one-time grant of Rs.500 million to expand facilities, including a 15-bed ICU. The committee directed the Health Secretary to compile a detailed report for further deliberation in the next meeting.

The committee approved the expansion of the Sindh Institute of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation building, including the construction of two additional floors. Out of the total Rs.600 million required, Rs.200 million will be allocated from non-development funds, with the remaining Rs.400 million included in the next financial year’s annual development schemes.

The committee approved rehabilitation work on rain and flood-affected sections of MNV drains under ROBD-I & III for 2022. The committee emphasized recovering funds from WAPDA due to the federal government’s non-payment, which had adversely affected the people of Sindh. The agenda for appointing a consultant in the School Education and Literacy Department was postponed.

The committee stressed accountability and efficiency in utilizing allocated funds across projects. Syed Nasir Hussain Shah reiterated the Sindh government’s commitment to addressing pressing developmental challenges while promoting cultural and infrastructural growth. He emphasized transparency and sustainability in project implementation to ensure long-term benefits for the province.
