The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has predicted rain and gusty winds with isolated hailstorms across several parts of the country on October 6 and 7.
According to the PMD, a westerly wave is expected to enter the upper parts of the country tonight and continue to persist through October 7.
In Punjab and Islamabad, rain and thunderstorms are likely in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Murree, Galiyat, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, Mandi Bahauddin, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Hafizabad, Wazirabad, Lahore, Kasur, Sheikhupura, Sialkot, Narowal, Mianwali, Khushab, Sargodha, Jhang, Toba Tek Singh and Faisalabad.
In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the weather system is expected to bring rain, strong winds and thunderstorms, with isolated hailstorms, from the night of October 5 to October 7. The affected areas include Dir, Chitral, Swat, Kohistan, Shangla, Battagram, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Haripur, Buner, Malakand, Bajaur, Mohmand, Kohat, Peshawar, Charsadda, Nowshera, Mardan, Swabi, Khyber, Orakzai, Kurram, Hangu, Lakki Marwat, Karak, Bannu, D.I. Khan and Waziristan.
Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan are also likely to receive rain, windstorms and thunderstorms, with isolated hail, on October 6 and 7. In Kashmir, the forecast includes Neelum Valley, Muzaffarabad, Rawalakot, Poonch, Hattian, Bagh, Haveli, Sudhanoti, Kotli, Bhimber and Mirpur. In Gilgit-Baltistan, Diamir, Astore, Ghizer, Skardu, Hunza, Gilgit, Ghanche and Shigar may receive rainfall.
Most parts of Balochistan are expected to remain hot and dry, although isolated rain and thunderstorms accompanied by strong winds may occur in Zhob, Barkhan and Musakhel during the evening or night of October 6.
Sindh is likely to remain predominantly hot and dry over the next few days.
The PMD cautioned that strong winds, hail and lightning could pose risks to vulnerable structures, including mud-house roofs and walls, electricity poles and billboards. Vehicles and solar panels could also be damaged during severe weather.
